Scribus is available for many operatings systems and comes in basically two flavors, stable and development. For almost all production work, we recommend that you use the stable version. In our development version lots of things may be regularly changing as we fix issues and introduce new features.
Currently the stable branch is the 1.4.x series. Download links for 1.4.x installers are available, click the button below. Use this branch if you want to work with a thoroughly tested software without any unpleasant surprises.
The development branch is currently 1.5.x. It’s mainly being released for people who want to help us testing and improving Scribus, so the next stable series (1.6.x) will work well. However, as of version 1.5.1, we consider the development branch reasonably stable, so it can be used for serious work by users who accept that not all new

It is also possible to install 1.4.x and 1.5.x side by side, so you can work with one version and play with the other.
GitHub Desktop is a seamless way to contribute to projects on GitHub and GitHub Enterprise. GitHub Desktop allows developers to synchronize branches, clone repositories, and more. Pull requests, merge button, fork queue, issues, pages, wiki: all awesome features that make sharing easier. It notifies you to know when you have changes you haven't pushed or there are new changes on the app you haven't pulled down.
